Whether You're in Tech, Considering It, or a Novice: 9 Common Questions we all have.

No matter where you stand in your tech journey—whether you're an experienced professional, someone thinking about joining, or a complete novice—there are common questions we all face, right??

Some may seem basic, while others touch deeper concerns about career growth and belonging in tech.

Let's explore some of these questions and the insights that can guide you through each stage.

  1. Is Tech Right for Me?

Don't read minds, but this the first question lingering in most of our minds right??But It's normal to feel uncertain about whether you'll enjoy or excel in this field.

Many people think tech is only for "math geniuses" or "logical thinkers," but the truth is, the industry is vast and diverse. Whether you enjoy problem-solving, designing user interfaces, or even writing, there's a place for you.

    I repeat, 'there's a place for you'

  2. Why Is Everybody Rushing Into the Tech World?

It's no surprise that everyone is talking about tech, joining tech and all. You are then left to wonder what's in this tech space for God's sake? But lemme rell you, you will get answer to your questions now.

The main reason why everyone is talking about tech is the growing demand for tech professionals in various sectors. Almost every industry now relies on technology, which opens up a lot of opportunities. Also, the flexibility to work remotely and the potential for high-paying jobs make tech it an attractive option. If you can sit right in the comfort of your home and make a whole lot, tell me won't you also go into that kind of business?🤔

  3. Is Tech Really Paying Well?

I just said that above 😀, but let me say it again, tech roles are generally well-compensated. Yes they are! For example, a junior developer in the United States typically earns between $50,000 and $70,000 per year. In other parts of the world, junior developers may earn less, but even then, tech roles are often still above average for entry-level positions. As you gain experience, your earning potential grows significantly. More specialized fields, like data science or cybersecurity, can lead to even higher earnings.

  4. What If I'm Not Good at Calculating?

This the main reason why alot of people are running from tech, because of the misconceptions that it's only for 'geniuses' or 'mathematicians'. But hell no! Although some areas of tech do involve math (e.g., data science, machine learning), but know that not every tech job requires advanced calculations. If you’re not a fan of math, fields like front-end development, UI/UX design, content creation, or even project management might be more appealing and require minimal or no math at all.

  5. Do I Need to Be a 'Natural' at Coding?

The idea that you need to be a coding genius from day one is a myth. A huge one! Coding, like any other skill, can be learned and developed with practice and dedication. The key is not giving up when it gets challenging. When i started my frontend class, everything seems like magic 🌝, how will i know when to use h1? how will i remember all these tags, but look at me now, already venturing into backend. That doesn't mean even up till now, i don't face challenges. There are sometimes I would see other people's work and be like what am i really doing? but i console my self by saying i won't rush but will get there someday.

  6. Am I Too Late to Start a Career in Tech?

This is a question people at various life stages ask, especially those transitioning from different fields. The answer is a resounding no. Yes a resounding no. Tech is one of the few industries where skills matter more than age or previous background. Many people switch to tech in their 30s, 40s, or even later, finding success through bootcamps, self-learning, or online courses. No matter what your mates thinks it's better late than never, in tech your skills, experience and expertise matters more than anything else. So my friend, better start now.

  7. How Do I Stand Out in Tech?

Yes, tech is getting saturated, and as the tech industry grows, so does the competition. You're left to reason since they're too many people with the skills, i have, what would make me stand out?

Standing out isn't just about mastering coding; it's about showcasing your unique strengths. Whether it’s by building a strong personal brand, contributing to open-source projects, posting your works and achievements regularly, or having a portfolio that reflects your creativity, find ways to distinguish yourself from the crowd.

  8. What If I Feel Like an Imposter?

Imposter syndrome is real, and many in tech experience it—whether they’ve just started or have been in the industry for years. The feeling that you're not good enough or don’t belong is something we all face. The best way to overcome it is by reminding yourself that learning is a continuous process and that even seasoned professionals don't have all the answers.

  9. Where and How Do I Start?

So, you've probably changed your perspective about tech and wondering where to start from right??🤔

The first step is having the right mindset. Begin with the decision that you want to start and that you won’t give up, even when things get tough, no matter what. Next, figure out which field is right for you. There are so many options—web development, data science, cybersecurity, UI/UX design, and more. It's important to explore a bit and find what excites you the most. Don’t worry, I’m planning to drop a blog soon breaking down the different fields and what they encompass, so you can choose wisely.Once you have a direction, take small steps—start learning the basics, work on projects, and share your work. Surround yourself with communities that keep you motivated, and always remember: tech is a journey, not a sprint.

Conclusion

Was I able to answer all those questions lingering in your mind?🤔

I hope so! Whether you’re still on the fence about tech or ready to dive in, just remember that everyone starts somewhere.

You don’t need to have all the answers from the beginning—just the mindset that you’re willing to learn and not give up when things get tough.

Tech is for anyone who’s curious, determined, and ready to grow. Did I mention that?😀

So, take that first step, explore the field that excites you, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes—they’re part of the journey.

What’s worth doing is worth doing well, and I can’t wait to see where your journey takes you. So, are you ready to take the plunge?
