Brentford manager Thomas Frank has acknowledged the immense challenge of containing Erling Haaland, describing it as "nearly impossible" as his team prepares to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

Haaland, the Premier League's top scorer for the past two seasons, has already struck seven goals in just three matches this season, including two hat-tricks. Frank praised Haaland’s exceptional anticipation and movement, noting that the Norwegian's skills make him incredibly difficult to neutralize.

"He’s a great player with movements in the box that are among the best we’ve ever seen," Frank said on Thursday. "His anticipation and positioning are top-level. He's a fantastic player in the best team in the world."

Haaland had a decisive impact in the same fixture last season, scoring the winning goal and assisting in Phil Foden's hat-trick at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium.

Despite the formidable challenge, Frank remains optimistic about Brentford’s chances, stating, "If we reach a high level, we can make it difficult for them." Brentford currently holds six points from their first three games and aims to challenge the league leaders this weekend.
