The Rise of the Internet Giant
Do you know? In 90s whenever, people want to find any information they always go to libraries, read multiple books, dictionaries and encyclopedia. Before 1998 it was very difficult to get the information quickly and the Internet was impossible. But those days are gone!
We all are familiar with that, Thanks to the Company called Google. It is among the big companies in the tech industry. Larry Page and Sergey Brin are the masterminds behind this company. These two of them completely change the tech industry, before them Yahoo!, also existed.
Larry Page enrolled in a Computer Science Program at Stanford University in 1995. He was Born in Michigan, his parents were both Computer experts and following their footsteps he also studied Computer Engineering. He was an introvert kind of person and did not like to be more social.
Sergey Brin was in Moscow, Russia. He migrated to the United States at a very young age. California was the place of opportunities, it was the home of companies like Apple, Microsoft. It was a place for aspiring Entrepreneurs. He is a more Social Person.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin met in 1995 while pursuing their Ph.D.s in Computer Science at Stanford University.
While Larry Page started searching about his doctoral thesis, he picked 10 fascinating ideas and found himself interested in www (World Wide Web). He came up with the system that would drag the internet to determine which pages were linked to the other pages, positing that could lead to the creation of a new kind of search engine.They initially called the project "BackRub" because it analyzed backlinks to determine the importance of websites
He came up with idea to backlinks to help rank the websites based on their relevance, reliability and the feedback from the user. But it required complex maths and many computer resources to do that. Here is when the Brin came in, they both started experimenting in 1996 with the Stanford homepage and soon came up with the page rank algorithm, this ranking system became the foundation of the Google search.
They name their Company after the mathematical term “Googol” a one followed by 100 zeroes.
In August 1996 Google was created, and was a hit at the Stanford Campus.
At that time, there were already some search engines existed, Google was the sixth one!

In 1999, they decided to sell Google, but there were no buyers, so they started to hiring people who could meet their standards. People had to go through 10 to 12 interviews to work for Google, and by the time it became more tough and hiring rate was less than 1%. There was a greater chance of getting into Harvard than Google.
Company was not able to make money, they decided to bring ads on the website, without frustrating their Audience and created the small cards like ads on the website and this boosted the revenue of Google.
After Larry Page, Eric Schmidt became the CEO of Google.
-In 2000, Google became the search engine provider for Yahoo!
-IN 2002, Google launched Google News.
-In 2004, April 1st Gmail was launched to the public, because of the release date people thought, it was an April fool’s prank, but it was not.
-In 2005, Google Maps was launched.
-In 2005, Google became the go-to search engine.
-Google acquired Android in mid-2005 for around $50 million.
-In 2006, Google acquired YouTube.
-In 2007, Google brought street view feature in Google Maps.
-In August 2015, Google created its Parent Company called Alphabet & Sundar Pichai became the CEO.
The Company was just started as a normal search engine, and now it manages multiple different products with more than a billion users each. Company has faced so many issues, because of their continuos innovation with the tools like Google cloud, Android and AI-driven stuff kept google ahead.
By localizing services in various languages and regions, Google reached worldwide.
By acquiring Android and making it open source, Google powered billions of mobile devices.
Google built its own efficient large infrastructure and data centers which enabled them to handle millions of users.
