Customising Firefox using AutoConfig

TIL that AutoConfig can be used to customise Mozilla Firefox.

I wanted to override the default shortcut key Cmd+T to open new tab in a specific container rather than in "no container". There is also an open issue about it the Mozilla’s multi-account-containers project. Was able to achieve it using AutoConfig. Its available here in my dotfiles repo. Place the the AutoConfig files in these paths:

  • /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/defaults/pref/autoconfig.js

  • /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/autoconfig.cfg
