Scope Ya Passion: Freshers' Struggle in IT Skills or Dreams?

Hey There! My friend,

If you're in the final year of your B.E./B.Tech and still haven't secured a job, you might feel like you're falling behind. But if your major is Computer Science, congratulations, my friend, you're in Serious trouble right now! 🤝

Getting an IT job as a fresher is no longer easy! But don’t stress. Stay strong. We've faced tough situations before, and we'll get through this one too. Remember the last four years of hard work? Those nights before exams! It's crazy, right? That's where we'll find our motivation from.

Our Current Situation:

In today’s competitive job market B.E/B.Tech students from Tier 3 colleges, especially in IT, often struggle to secure jobs.

As recent graduates, we tend to become desperate for a job, as recruiters are eagerly waiting to Hire us. But if we think honestly, we never really cared much about placements until the final year - or even till the very last semester. In the first three years, we enjoyed ourselves and though we knew placements were coming, it seemed hard to dive into actual programming as we had never shown interest in it even being Cs Students, That’s funny Right…

When we finally start thinking about placements, we might have just learned a programming language and believed we were skilled enough to get hired. Yes, for some of our friends, it was a big deal—as they didn’t even bother getting a basic laptop while studying computer engineering ⚡…That’s the scenario of a Typical Tier 3 College, No awareness Hence Real Learning

But when we get a reality check after some rejections, we realize we weren’t as prepared as we thought.

This is where our real learning starts as Tier 3 clg students. We suddenly become aware of what’s actually required to land a job, and from that point onwards, we start developing programming logic and gaining the necessary skills

This experience teaches us an important lesson: as CS students, we shouldn’t only focus on getting a job. We should focus on expanding our knowledge, learning, growing, and aiming big. We should strive to build something which real people will use, like Instagram or YouTube. That’s the real power of this field—creating technology that benefits society, not just businesses.

But Why Do We Only Realize This After Graduation?

Yes, We’re hardworking and passionate, just like students from top-tier colleges. But we lack awareness and hence the Hunger to Learn. And by the time we become aware, it’s often too late. We don’t have the time or the skills that would land us a job, as gaps of more than a year in a career - are rarely appreciated in the IT industry.

So let’s take a step back and view our situation from a third-person perspective.

  1. A student is trying to get a job.

  2. The student is unaware of what’s needed.

  3. The student doesn’t have the necessary skills.

  4. The student faces constant rejections.

  5. The student panics.

But What Actually Needs to Be Done?

  1. Accept your situation, no matter how bad or late it is.

  2. Start from the basics.

  3. Develop a genuine interest in programming, if you don’t already have one.

  4. Connect with people who have similar goals, either in college or online communities.

  5. Begin learning a programming language to understand its purpose and flow.

  6. Master computer fundamentals.

  7. Learn OOP concepts in the language you’re focusing on.

  8. Move on to DSA and development (one at a time).

  9. Master a niche like web development, app development, or cloud technologies.

Once you become self-aware and confident, recruiters will start noticing your applications.

By being aware, I mean doing your own research and developing a genuine interest in what you do. This doesn't just apply to coding; it can also be for non-tech roles like BDA, HR, etc. When you do this, getting a job becomes secondary—it will happen eventually. Hard work, along with proper guidance, is essential for Tier 3 Colleges students. If you lack guidance, seek help from online communities if you don't know anyone working in the industry.

This leads us to our main question, Which question should we ask ourselves before pursuing a career in a particular field: "Kya iss filed me Scope hai ?" or "Kya Mujhe Isme sach me dil se interest hai ?"

This question will eventually help us to avoid such situations like the above one we discussed, in the first place

kya hai aapka answer, do tell me in comments ...:)

I just wanted to share my thoughts as a Tier 3 College Student.
