What is project Srijon
Srijon is a project of BRAC university in collaboration with BRAC Education Program for underprivileged students. The main objective of this project is to promote gender equality, skill development and raise awareness about social issues. Under this project underprivileged students are taught basic ICT skills, develop social awareness, gain knowledge to address issues faced in adolescence that are not discussed socially or taught in school. The main beneficiary of this project are the grade 6, 7, 8 students of Arkan School and College. The students of Arkan school belong from an underprivileged community and lack proper knowledge of personal health, sexuality education, safe use of internet, cyberbullying. Students are taught Social and SHRR contents which includes topics like Gender, Child rights, Child marriage, Puberty, Menstruation, Wet dream, Drug and Sexual harassment. Moreover, in the ICT module the Computers basics, Basic use of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Safe use of Internet are covered. Students gain practical knowledge, participate in debate, roleplay, do project work, play outdoor sports and learn through these activities. The duration of the project is 1 year where 120 BRAC University students divided into 3 equal groups facilitates the Arkan students during their 4 months stay at the Residential campus. The number of Arkan students are also kept to 40 to ensure one-one learning with utmost attention and care to each individuals. An evaluation is conducted after the completion of the project to asses the learning of the students and make improvements.
