Disappointment with Coderbyte: A Word of Caution

Today, I stumbled upon an old bookmark, a post listing the top 10 sites to test your coding skills. I’ve seen Coderbyte and I hadn’t heard of it before, so I thought, why not give it a try? I didn’t expect it to be much different from LeetCode or HackerRank, but still, I went ahead and registered. It was not a pleasant experience from the start. The initial disappointment was the number of challenges that are available to free users. I think I had found only one in the hard category and a handful in medium difficulty. Seriously?

There’s no reason to hang in there so I decided to delete my account.

Well, guess what?! There is no delete option in your account settings. Are you kidding? How it’s possible that,in 2024, with privacy being such a big deal, there’s no way to remove your account. Wait! Maybe they do it manually and you need to request it. Uhmm, well this can’t be real right? Anyway, I’ve taken the risk :) and pressed the contact link only to be told that free email services are not accepted. Sure! You’ll let me in but don’t take me seriously because I use a free email service.

Long story short, if you’re considering this platform, be aware of these limitations before diving in. There are plenty of other options available that offer greater flexibility and value!
