How to install windows
Here’s a step-by-step guide to installing Windows:
Step 1: Prepare for Installation
Backup Your Data: Before installing, back up any important files, as the process may erase all data on the system.
Obtain a Windows Installation Media: You'll need a USB drive (at least 8GB) or a Windows DVD with the Windows installation files. You can create a bootable USB using the Windows Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft website.
Step 2: Create a Bootable USB (if needed)
Download Media Creation Tool: Go to the Microsoft website and download the Windows Media Creation Tool.
Run the Tool: Follow the prompts and choose "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file)".
Select Language, Edition, and Architecture: Choose your preferred options.
Select USB Drive: Choose the USB drive you want to make bootable.
Wait for the Tool to Finish: It will download Windows and create the bootable USB.
Step 3: Boot from the Installation Media
Insert the USB or DVD: Insert the bootable USB or Windows DVD into your computer.
Restart Your Computer: As your computer starts, enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or Delete during startup).
Change Boot Order: In the BIOS/UEFI settings, set your computer to boot from the USB or DVD first.
Save Changes and Exit: Save your changes and your computer will restart from the installation media.
Step 4: Install Windows
Select Language and Region: When the Windows Setup screen appears, choose your language, time, and keyboard preferences.
Click "Install Now".
Enter Product Key: Enter your Windows product key if prompted. You can skip this step and activate later if you don't have the key handy.
Choose Installation Type: Select "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)" for a fresh install.
Partition the Drive: Choose the partition where you want to install Windows. You can format the drive if necessary or select an existing partition.
Start Installation: Windows will now start the installation process. This may take some time.
Restart: Your system will restart several times during the installation.
Step 5: Complete the Setup
Personalize Settings: After installation, you’ll be asked to choose privacy settings, sign in with a Microsoft account, and set up a password.
Install Updates: Once setup is complete, it’s a good idea to check for Windows updates and install any drivers for your hardware.
Step 6: Install Drivers and Software
Install Drivers: If your computer’s hardware (graphics card, network card, etc.) needs specific drivers, download them from the manufacturer’s website.
Install Essential Software: Install necessary software like browsers, office tools, etc.
Your Windows installation is now complete!
