Stopping for Coffee on a Work Day
"One hot mocha please" I say to the smiling barista,
Then take a slice of cake, followed by a seat.
My colleagues don't know I'm in the cafetaria,
Stealing a moment of peace and a bite to eat.
Looking out the panoramic windows, I find it queer
To be sandwiched between a construction site
And another tall glass panelled office building.
The sunlight catches the fork as I take a bite.
"One hot mocha!" The familiar barista calls out,
Just as the nutty aroma wafts across to me.
The only other sound is muted chit chatter,
And pleasant clatter as sugar is stirred into tea.
The cafetaria is lovely, bright and inviting,
But I have meetings to attend that I can't delay
And bugs to fix before I log out for the day
And bugs to fix before I log out for the day
