IP Addres stands for Internet Protocol

Every node in the computer network is identified with the help of IP addres.

Every device needs an IP address to send or receive data over the internet.

They help route data from one device to another over the internet or local networks.

They are essential for managing network traffic and ensuring data reaches the correct destination.

IP addres various:

It has IPv4 and IPv6.

→Ipv4 can support 4 billion Ip addresses.

→Ipv6 can support trillions of Ip addresses.

IPv4

  • Ipv4 has logical addres.

  • Can change based on the location of the device.

  • Assigned mannually or dynamically.

  • Represented in decimal and has four octets(x.x.x.x).

  • 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255(32 bits).

IPv6

  • It is a 128 bit addres.

  • It is a numeric label that identifies a Network Interface Card(NIC).

  • Represented as 8 groups of four hexadecimal digits each.

  • Ip address is seperated by colons.

  • Ipv6 addresses from 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000 to ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff:ffff .

→Ip addresses are used to help devices and websites communicate with each other by allowing for the efficient tranfer data.

Ip address can be seen in real life as following :
