First Blog Post
This morning, I was listening to the Screaming in the Cloud podcast and they had a replay with Forrest Brazeal. He talked about how he wanted to give back to the cloud community, so he developed the Cloud Resume Challenge. I was interested and checked it out. I was impressed and motivated. I work at a VMware Cloud provider, but currently have an expired AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification and a recently earned Azure Fundamentals certification. These certifications don't provide direct value in my current role, but looking at the landscape, I can certainly feel which way the winds are blowing. I decided to buy the AWS, Azure, and GCP Challenge Guidebooks and joined the Discord. In reviewing the Discord, I came across a user, Mujaddad Fazeel and his blog post about his AWS Challenge. I was blown away. Then I reviewed his resume and truly understood the gulf between my limited understanding of the cloud and the possibilities. As someone who is 20 years into his career, with more than half of that as a hardware admin and leader, change is scary and tough. I decided to do something about that. I'm jumping in. I don't have a blog currently, but I hope to in the future, so I'm emailing myself this post. I'm going to continue to update my posts by emailing myself and when I have a blog up, I'll just copy/paste. With that, I'll say thank you to Forrest and Mujaddad. You have motivated me to be better and that's a valued skill in the workplace. Thank you.
