How I Effectively Upskill my Team
Building a small yet smart team comes with a unique set of challenges, especially when striving to create a group that is both multi-skilled and resilient. One of my goals as a founder is to ensure my team is continuously learning, upskilling and quickly applying the knowledge gained.
There are some misconceptions about upskilling being a risky affair. In case you are interested, you can read my thought about the same here
Why upskilling Matter
For me, Upskilling is more than just keeping pace with industry trends or once in a year formality; it’s about building a team that’s agile, industry ready, and equipped to deliver high-quality work. By investing in my Team’s growth, I am not only enhancing their abilities but creating a work environment that values curiosity and continuous improvement.
Its a win-win.
Glimpse of Upskilling at Techvito
Here are a few ways I look at upskilling within Techvito:
Half/Full Day Technology workshops
Lunch and Learn Sessions to improve soft skills
Coffee with Techvito where we speak about non technical stuff
Dedicated Learning Budgets
Games, Puzzles and more.
What We’ve Achieved Together
Through the upskilling program, my team at Techvito has seen growth in areas that go beyond technical abilities. Here’s a glimpse into some of the key improvements:
Technology Upskilling: Through focused training and workshops, we’ve expanded our expertise across critical areas of software engineering and digital marketing.
Time Management: Enhanced organizational skills allow my team to handle projects more effectively, balancing work and life priorities.
Planning and Prioritization: With a greater focus on planning, my team can allocate resources more effectively, streamlining workflows and increase productivity.
Work-Life Balance: By emphasizing balance, I am building a happier, healthier team who can bring their best to work every day.
Personal Branding: By encouraging my team to invest in their personal brand, I am empowering them to grow their influence, enhance their career trajectory, and become ambassadors of our company culture. Read more about it here.
Financial Literacy: Building financial awareness has empowered our team to manage both personal and professional resources more wisely, bringing a sense of stability and confidence. Read more here.
Dealing with Success and Failure: Our upskilling journey has shown us that both wins and setbacks come with valuable lessons, making our team more resilient and growth-oriented.
Public Speaking and Cold Calling: Focused on communication skills to build confidence in client interactions, presentations, and everyday exchanges, creating a more connected and persuasive team.
The Why ?
Witnessing tangible results of my team’s growth due to all the above things we do at Techvito has been one of the most rewarding things for me as a founder. Seeing each team member step up, gain confidence, and bring their best to every project has brought immense satisfaction. I whole heartedly Thank my team for the same.
Also, my ability to build and nurture a high performing, quick learning team has brought a deep sense of pride within me and reaffirms my belief that building a culture of continuous learning is one of the most impactful choices I have made being a leader. I thank god for giving me this opportunity.
