Why We Rarely Ask Small Questions and How It Affects Us
I want to share my personal experience with you. I'm someone who's really passionate and has big goals and dreams. But sometimes, when things don't go as planned, I get pretty down and anxious.
After going through this chapter, I discovered the Kaizen method of kicking things off by asking small questions to reach my big goal. The method is simple. If your goal is to become fluent in foreign languages, start by asking small questions like, “What can I do today to work towards this goal?” and then take action based on the answers.
By asking little questions, we can boost our creativity. Perry Spencer didn't invent the microwave by asking, "How can I create a device that will change kitchens everywhere?" Instead, he saw a snack melting near radar equipment in a candy shop and asked, "Why does radar affect food this way?" This simple question led to answers, more questions, and eventually a big breakthrough. Thomas Edison used the same approach.
The phrase "Start Small" in business, inspired by the Kaizen Method, emphasizes taking simple and manageable steps to achieve larger goals. This approach prevents overwhelm, allows flexibility, and enables businesses to test and refine ideas before scaling up, which is crucial in today's fast-paced environment.
After a week of asking small, manageable questions, I noticed improvements in my life. I felt more comfortable, less anxious, and got more done. This method helped me break big goals into smaller steps, making them easier to achieve. By focusing on small changes, I kept a steady pace towards my goals without feeling overwhelmed.
I wanted to share this experience because it positively impacted my life and could help others facing similar challenges. This is the core idea of Kaizen. Maybe everyone knows this, but sometimes we forget to apply it because we're busy trying to survive in the hustle and bustle of life.
Here's a little reminder: Dream big, but start by asking small questions.
