Next.js 15 Form Component: A Beginner's Guide
Hello everyone
Next.js 15 introduces a new Form
component that makes handling forms easier than ever. Let's take a quick look at how to use it!
How to Use the Form Component
First, import the Form component:
import Form from 'next/form';
Now, let's create a simple search form:
export default function SearchForm() {
return (
<Form action="/search">
<input name="query" placeholder="Search..." />
<button type="submit">Search</button>
</Form>
);
}
That's it! This form will now navigate to /search?query=your-search-term
when submitted.
Why Use the Form Component?
The Form component offers three main benefits:
Faster Navigation: It uses client-side navigation.
Works Without JavaScript: If JavaScript fails, the form still works normally.
Quicker Loading: It preloads the next page, making your app feel even faster.
By using the Form component, you're getting these advanced features without any extra work. It's a simple way to make your Next.js forms more powerful and user-friendly
