Cherishing Memories: My Grandpa's Impact on My Life

Lately, I've been missing my grandpa deeply and reflecting on the beautiful memories we shared. While many say a daughter’s first love is her father, for me, it’s always been my grandpa who raised me.

My grandpa introduced me to the world of art, sports, music, history, magic, and, most importantly, books and movies.

While others my age watched Disney or Marvel, I grew up with timeless classics like Indiana Jones , Sherlock Holmes and Wuthering Heights with him. Movie nights with him were more than entertainment they were chances to learn. He’d ask for my thoughts, what lessons I learned, and which new words I picked up. He patiently explained me everything, from politics to history to Global events like 9/11 and the fall of Gaddafi in Libya. Of course, we gossiped about John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana and Charles, and even tossed in some Hitler debates for fun.😂

Books and sports were my grandpa’s passions, which he shared generously “Treasure Island”by Robert Louis Stevenson was the first book we read together, sparking my love for literature. And also shared me his thoughts on football strategies , and we bonded over midnight games of football, basketball, and boxing, cheering for teams on Skynet.

Now, when I watch a movie or sports, I miss him deeply. Those moments were about connection, learning, and love. I’ll always be grateful for how he opened my world to movies, books, and sports, teaching me to see life in a thoughtful way.

I hope he’s watching over me from heaven, knowing I’m doing my best.
