Empowering Women in Tech: My Tutoring Journey Begins

If there’s one theme ringing loud and clear as we step into this new year, it’s Improvement. From personal goals to professional ambitions, everyone seems eager to be better, do better, and yes—look better! I find this energy contagious, and as I reflect on my journey, I realize I’m no different. Towards the end of last year, I took a hard look at everything I did wrong and everything I wanted to do but didn’t. This year, I’m flipping the script and turning those “what-ifs” into actions.
One of the ways I’ve decided to improve and give back is by sharing what I know about Frontend Development. For the first half of 2025, I’ll be tutoring ten ladies in this valuable skill. Why ladies? Because I believe in fostering inclusivity in tech, and I want to see more women thriving in this space.
Why Frontend Development Matters
Frontend Development is more than just creating pretty websites. It’s about bringing ideas to life, shaping user experiences, and building the digital world we interact with every day. And in the age of AI and Machine Learning, having a solid foundation in tech is no longer optional—it’s essential. These cutting-edge technologies rely on strong interfaces and seamless experiences, making front-end developers a vital part of the equation.
Learning this skill opens doors to exciting opportunities, whether you want to create your own projects, join a tech company, or simply future-proof your career in this rapidly evolving industry.
The Plan and My Excitement
Initially, I planned to tutor five ladies. But then a thought struck me: people often undervalue free things. Would all five take it seriously? Probably not. So, I upped the number to ten. My goal is to have at least five committed ladies by the end of the six-month-long program with core front-end skills ready for internships by June.
I’m excited, not just for what I’ll teach but for what I’ll learn. Growth is never one-sided, and I know this experience will sharpen my skills, broaden my perspective, and challenge me in unexpected ways.
What to Expect
For anyone watching from the sidelines, I’ll also be sharing the concepts we cover here. So, whilst you’re not part of the core group, you can still benefit by staying tuned.
Here’s to a year of improvement, growth, and giving back 🥂
