At the 4B Festival—a celebration of bourbon, bacon, beer, and BBQ—our team sought to enhance attendee engagement through innovative technology. The goal was to create an interactive experience that would encourage social media participation and foster a sense of community among festival-goers.

My role was to design and implement a dynamic digital installation that would display real-time social media posts from attendees, thereby increasing online interaction and promoting the festival's presence across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Each social media post contributed to a virtual beer tap animation on the screen. As the virtual beer stein filled, reaching the top triggered a signal via a custom Socket Server to an Arduino connected to emergency flashing lights around the venue. This sequence indicated the start of a giveaway, encouraging attendees to visit a designated table for festival swag.

The result was a success

The installation boosted engagement by providing immediate visual feedback to attendees' social media activity. Attendees could see their posts displayed in real-time, fostering a sense of involvement and community. The gamification element further motivated participation, leading to increased social media sharing and a memorable, interactive experience that highlighted the festival's innovative use of technology.
