Outreachy Closing in: What next?

As someone passionate about technology and cybersecurity, I am always looking for new opportunities to grow and make a difference. One of my biggest career goals right now is to pursue further studies, specifically through an MSc or PhD in Cybersecurity. I’m particularly interested in focusing on the engineering side of cybersecurity, while also exploring the exciting possibilities that Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers in making software more secure and efficient. Therefore, I’m open to scholarships that can help me in my journey to deepen my understanding of security and also to contribute meaningfully to projects that enhance the quality and security of software products.

I have a strong foundation in programming, with skills in Java, Kotlin, and Swift, which I’ve used to develop mobile apps. I’ve also worked with tools like the IntelliJ Plugin Development Kit and JavaFX to build high-quality software. Over the years, I’ve learned how to design apps using MVVM and MVP architectures, which help ensure that my code is clean, scalable, and easy to maintain.

Testing is something I’m passionate about. I believe that the quality and security of software are essential, having learnt a lot of the basics while interning at ODK-X with Outreachy. I want to contribute the more to projects that help improve these aspects. I also use project management tools like Linear, Trello, and ClickUp to stay organized and keep track of tasks and progress. I’m familiar with version control systems like Git, GitHub, and GitLab, which help me collaborate smoothly with teams.

I hold a BSc. Hons. in Computer Science with an Upper credit, where I carried out a project to create an Intelli-J plugin of Android Studio to detect vulnerabilities in source codes, and I’m eager to deepen my knowledge of cybersecurity, and how AI can be used to protect software from potential threats. My journey so far has been rewarding, but I know there’s so much more to learn, and I’m excited to continue on this path.

Although I’m based in Nigeria, I’m open to relocating if an opportunity comes up that matches my skills and aligns with my career goals. I’m ready to begin my studies and start contributing to new projects as early as late March, 2025. The future of cybersecurity is vast, and I am excited to contribute to shaping it.

Till you hear from me again. Please share opportunities with me on linkedIn

Cheers 🥂
