A Journey of Growth and Leadership

Stepping into the role of Project Management Lead on July 1, 2023, was both an exciting and daunting experience. Now, as I enter my second year, I find myself reflecting on the journey—its highs and lows, the struggles, and the invaluable lessons along the way.
One of the greatest blessings in this role has been the people around me. I have been fortunate to work in an environment filled with kind, humble, and supportive colleagues. More than just coworkers, they feel like family—brothers and sisters I never had. Their presence has made the challenges more bearable and the victories more meaningful.
Another privilege has been working alongside experienced professionals who willingly share their knowledge, ideas, and perspectives. Collaboration isn’t always smooth; differences in thought sometimes lead to debates, but ultimately, mutual support prevails. Even in difficult situations, knowing that we have each other’s backs makes all the difference.
However, leadership comes with its own set of trials. There were moments when I faced a team that resisted direction—stubborn, unyielding, unwilling to be led. Managing them felt impossible, and for the first time, I questioned whether my efforts were even making an impact. The weight of responsibility was overwhelming.
But then, I learned a crucial lesson: leadership isn’t about carrying everything alone. When I shared my struggles with my lead team, I was met with understanding and support. Instead of facing the challenge in isolation, I found strength in knowing that I wasn’t alone. Their willingness to step in and help lifted a burden I didn’t even realize I was carrying.
At the end of the day, my role is simply to fulfill my responsibility. I can guide, support, and provide direction, but I cannot force anyone to move. The choice to grow and improve lies with each individual. And while resistance may exist, so will the consequences—because perception, whether fair or not, is something we all must face.
Leadership isn’t just about leading others; it’s about growing through the experiences that shape us. And for that, I am grateful.
