Govt to Launch Talent Development Programs in All TVETs

The government is set to introduce talent development programs across all Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide to nurture students' skills beyond academics.
According to Acting Assistant Secretary for TVET Education, Joseph Njau, the initiative aligns with Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) and aims to help students commercialize their talents into sustainable careers.
Njau emphasized that with shrinking white-collar job opportunities, developing creative and technical skills will empower young people for self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the Nyandarua National Polytechnic Open Day, themed "TVET for Sustainable Development," Njau, alongside Nyandarua County TVET Director Peter Karume and Polytechnic Principal Felix Mung’atu, outlined plans to integrate skills such as content creation into the curriculum.
The initiative will also create local and international competition platforms for TVET students to showcase their talents.
The officials urged students to embrace the opportunities presented by TVET talent academies to bridge the job market gap through innovation and creativity.
