Tamil Nadu Ready for Another Language War Over NEP, Says CM Stalin

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has declared that the state is prepared for "another language war" amid rising tensions with the central government over the alleged imposition of Hindi through the National Education Policy (NEP).

Stalin criticized the NEP, arguing that it undermines social justice, threatens the Tamil language, and disadvantages Tamil Nadu’s students. He reaffirmed that the state would not adopt the policy, even if offered significant financial incentives by the Union government.

"If the state were to sign away its rights for ₹2,000 crore, Tamil society would be set back by 2,000 years," Stalin said, asserting that he would never allow such a compromise.

Opposition Calls Out DMK’s "Double Standards"

BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan accused the DMK of hypocrisy, highlighting that many of its leaders send their children to CBSE schools where Hindi is taught, despite publicly opposing its inclusion in Tamil Nadu's curriculum. She also condemned the removal of Hindi signage at a railway station in Pollachi, allegedly by DMK supporters.

AIADMK MP M. Thambidurai echoed similar sentiments, accusing the DMK of using the language issue as a political tool. He challenged Stalin to ban CBSE schools in Tamil Nadu if he was truly committed to a two-language policy.

DMK’s Continued Protest Against Hindi Imposition

DMK members recently staged a protest in Tiruchirappalli, distributing pamphlets to raise awareness about their opposition to the three-language policy. The party has long championed the protection of Tamil language and culture, resisting any perceived attempts to impose Hindi.

As the debate over language policy intensifies, the conflict between Tamil Nadu and the Centre appears far from over.
