We did it !!!

We received official word that our 5-years grant to fund our core staff team is awarded !

Funding a distributed team of engineers in unprecedented, I can only thank our funder the Simons Foundation and our board of directors for believing in us and sharing our vision for the future - a future where engineers work hand in hand with researchers to deliver highly scalable, reproducible science.

Over the last year I spent quite some time preparing for this transition, and thinking about the new organisational structure ahead.

I'd like to take the time to thank here all the great leaders I met with, who took time to discuss 1. career development (e.g. how to construct a salary ladder and appraisal mechanism, what are the tracks and roles in which one can grow as an engineer), 2. project management and operational workflows in engineering cores, and 3. processes for receiving and managing funds to support a geographically distributed team of engineers.

Thank you Neil Chue Hong (Director, SSI), Ian Cosden (Sr. Director, RSE

Research Computing at Princeton), Sandra Gesing (Executive Director,

US-RSE), Cordero Core (Senior RSE, SSEC), Simons Hettrick (Director of Strategy, SSI), Jonathan Cooper (Director of Collaborations, ARC), Donna Swan (Deputy Director, ARC) and Uwe Schmitt (Senior RSE, ETH) for all your insights !

Finally, I'd like to put the spotlight on my team (see picture), who achieved so much and truly deserve to be recognized for it. Each and everyone of them is a hardworking and skillful individual, forming a core of true talents that I wish to retain for as long as possible ! What we've accomplished is amazing, congrats everyone !
