The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to revamp its examination pattern for Class 10 students starting in 2026. Under the new system, Science and Social Science subjects will be offered in two difficulty levels: Standard and Advanced. This change aims to provide students with a more flexible approach to learning, allowing them to choose the level of difficulty based on their career aspirations and academic strengths.

The Standard level will cater to students who prefer a fundamental understanding of the subjects, while the Advanced level will be designed for those seeking in-depth knowledge, especially for higher education in related fields. The move is expected to reduce exam-related stress and help students make more informed academic choices.

CBSE is expected to release detailed guidelines soon, outlining how students can opt for their preferred level and the implications for future studies. This reform aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes flexibility and a student-centric approach to learning. Schools and educators are gearing up to adapt to this change, ensuring a smooth transition for students appearing for the board exams in 2026.
