Thinking Aloud: Why I’m Starting a Daily Blog

I’m drinking my second coffee, and the day is starting off well. I find myself thinking about a post by Tim Ferriss in which he shared Seth Godin’s encouragement to blog daily.

At first glance, this might seem similar to keeping a personal journal. Indeed, it is somewhat similar, but in a public way. I’m not entirely convinced that it needs to be done publicly. There are advantages to keeping a private journal where one can write freely without sharing everything with friends or the rest of the world.

Nevertheless, blogging daily could be beneficial for clearly putting one’s ideas into writing. Writing for an audience forces us to structure and solidify our thoughts. Of course, an idea remains just an idea and can quickly evolve from one day to the next, depending on the stage of life we’re in, or even throughout a month or a single day!

Still, the thought of starting a public blog makes me curious about the effects it could have on me, so I’ve decided to begin one anyway. I’d like this blog to reflect my sincere desire to seek understanding, remain curious, and apply critical thinking to all ideas and situations I encounter—never automatically rejecting them but instead viewing them as perspectives to explore. Taking time for deep reflection.

After reading the book “The Road Less Stupid”, I’ve grown particularly fond of reserving time for profound reflection about my life, goals, and current challenges. It helps me organize my thoughts, prioritize what’s important, and consider the actions I need to take. The book refers to this practice as “Thinking Time.”

On that note, I’ll conclude this first blog post and begin my personal Thinking Time.
