World Consumer Rights Day: A Global Movement
Every year on March 15th, World Consumer Rights Day is celebrated globally. But why March 15th? The date commemorates a historic address by US President John F. Kennedy in 1962, where he outlined the Consumer Bill of Rights – the first formal recognition of consumer rights by a world leader.
This year's World Consumer Rights Day focuses on "Fair Digital Finance" – recognizing the rapid growth of digital payment systems and the need to ensure they serve consumers fairly and safely.
In India, the week from March 15th to March 21st is celebrated as National Consumer Rights Week, with awareness campaigns and educational initiatives across the country.
