Should You Start a Startup?

Starting a startup sounds exciting—freedom, innovation, and the chance to build something big. But is it the right path for you? Y Combinator’s Startup School dives into this question, and here’s what I learned:

1️⃣ Startups Are Extremely Hard

Most people think running a startup is cool, but the reality? It’s brutal. Founders work crazy hours, face constant pressure, and have no guaranteed success. If you don’t genuinely love solving a problem, you’ll burn out fast.

2️⃣ Motivation Matters More Than Ideas

A great idea alone isn’t enough. The best founders are obsessed with solving a problem, not just “starting a company.” If you wouldn’t work on this idea for free, it might not be the right one.

3️⃣ Most Startups Fail (And That’s Okay)

Success isn’t guaranteed. Even YC-backed startups fail. What matters is your ability to learn fast, adapt, and keep going. If you’re scared of failure, a startup might not be for you.

4️⃣ Founders Must Be Relentless

Building a startup means doing everything—from coding to sales to hiring. There’s no “easy” path. Founders who succeed are the ones who figure things out, no matter what.

5️⃣ Is It Right for You?

Ask yourself:
✅ Do I love solving hard problems?
✅ Am I okay with uncertainty?
✅ Would I work on this even if I didn’t get paid?
If yes, you might be built for this. If not, that’s okay too—startups aren’t the only way to succeed.

Final thing

Startups are not for everyone, but if you have the passion, resilience, and obsession to solve a real problem, it might be worth the ride. 🚀
