Microsoft has upgraded Copilot on Windows 11 with a new feature called Phone Connection. This update allows users to control key functions of their Android smartphones directly from a PC. With this integration, tasks like sending texts, setting alarms, and even starting navigation can be done without picking up the phone. This feature aims to enhance convenience and productivity for those who work across devices.

What is the Phone Connection Feature?

The Phone Connection feature links Microsoft Copilot to Android devices using Phone Link. Once connected, users can access messages, contacts, alarms, and navigation from their PC. This eliminates the need to switch between devices for simple tasks. By integrating Copilot with Android, Microsoft is offering a more personalized AI experience, making daily interactions with technology smoother.

Key Features of Phone Connection

  • Messaging – Users can send and receive text messages from their PC, reducing the need to check their phones constantly.

  • Alarms & Timers – Copilot allows users to set or manage alarms directly from the PC. This is helpful for scheduling tasks without reaching for the phone.

  • Navigation – Users can search for locations and start navigation through their PC. However, this feature currently works only on select Samsung devices.

How to Set Up Phone Connection

On Android:
  1. Install and open the Link to Windows app.

  2. Sign in with a Microsoft account.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the phone to a PC.

On PC:
  1. Open the Copilot app or visit the Copilot website.

  2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account used on the phone.

  3. Go to Profile > Account and enable Phone Connection.

Once set up, users can manage their phone functions through Copilot.

Benefits of Using Phone Connection

  • Better Workflow – Users can handle phone-related tasks without switching devices.

  • More Control – Copilot acts as a central hub for managing messages, alarms, and navigation.

  • Time-Saving – Routine tasks become faster and easier with PC-based access.

Limitations & Compatibility

  • This feature works only with Android phones; iOS devices are not supported.

  • Navigation functions are limited to select Samsung models.

  • Both the PC and phone must have an active internet connection for the link to work.

Conclusion

The Phone Connection feature in Copilot is a useful addition for Android users. It simplifies everyday tasks by allowing PC-based control of messaging, alarms, and navigation. While it has some limitations, it is a step toward a more seamless device experience. As Microsoft continues to expand Copilot’s capabilities, more features may be added in the future.

This upgrade makes it easier to stay connected and organized without relying on multiple devices. If you use both Windows and Android, trying out Phone Connection could improve your daily workflow.
