W3C: Origins, Membership, and Technologies

Overview
W3C - is an international non-profit organization founded in 1994
by Tim Berners-Lee, it focuses for developing web standards and guidelines.
How did the W3C get started ?
In 1989, Sir Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. Recognizing the need for a unified body to oversee web standards, he founded the W3C in October 1994 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Laboratory for Computer Science (MIT/LCS), in collaboration with CERN, with support from DARPA and the European Commission. The consortium was established to lead the web to its full potential by developing common protocols that promote its evolution and ensure interoperability.
Who can join the W3C? What does it cost to join ?
W3C membership is available to various organizations, including commercial, educational, and governmental bodies, but not to individuals.
W3C Technologies: Focusing on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) ?
Here are three key aspects/facts of CSS:
Separation of Content and Presentation: CSS allows developers to separate a webpage's content (HTML) from its presentation (design and layout). This separation enhances content accessibility, provides more flexibility in presentation characteristics, and reduces complexity and repetition in the structural content.
Responsive Design: CSS facilitates responsive web design, enabling webpages to adapt seamlessly to various devices and screen sizes. Features like media queries allow developers to apply different styles based on the device's characteristics, ensuring optimal user experiences across desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
Performance Optimization: By enabling the reuse of styles across multiple pages, CSS contributes to faster page loads and reduced bandwidth usage. This efficiency is crucial for improving website performance and user satisfaction.
