Chi'Va Respects Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Lifestyle by Design

Working remotely isn’t over—regardless of what the media might tell us. The truth is, many talented professionals choose remote work because it complements their desired lifestyles, family commitments, and personal goals. At Chi'Va, we honor that choice wholeheartedly. After all, “Why should anyone have to work for a lifestyle they loathe?”
Still, embracing Work-from-Anywhere (WFA) comes with responsibility. Respecting each other’s autonomy means holding clear expectations, setting boundaries, and maintaining transparency. We’re shifting toward a quarterly schedule to keep things fluid, responsive, and respectful of life's natural changes.
Honesty is the Foundation
We ask for honesty, first with yourself, and then with your teammates. Life happens—schedules change, commitments evolve, and that’s perfectly okay. But clarity matters:
Let your team know upfront what you can realistically commit to.
If your availability changes, share updates openly and quickly so we can adapt together.
Chi’Va’s planning works on a quarterly schedule, meaning you won’t be locked into rigid commitments indefinitely. Every quarter, we’ll revisit and realign our goals, workloads, and calendars together.
We understand change is inevitable; we’ll manage it proactively, with open and honest communication.
Dedicated Work Sessions Respect Our Flexibility
At Chi’Va, we've committed to respecting each other's work style and personal life choices. Our synchronous work sessions and study halls reflect that commitment—they’re intentionally scheduled as sacred, productive team times to support collaboration, mentoring, learning, and efficient task completion.
During these collaborative sessions, we ask each team member to:
Maintain a focused presence:
Be fully present and engaged—free from multitasking or other distractions like commuting or handling non-work tasks.Create a supportive environment:
We understand distractions at home or elsewhere, but it’s crucial to proactively prepare your workspace to minimize interruptions.Show Attentiveness:
Cameras should be on as often as possible, not as surveillance, but as a sign of mutual respect and active engagement.Complete Tasks Collaboratively:
Tasks started during our work sessions should be completed within the session itself. If a task requires additional preparation, please proactively handle this beforehand.
Meeting Commitments Reflect Mutual Respect
Remote work grants great flexibility, but meeting times must be honored to stay productive, aligned, and respectful of everyone’s time:
Join scheduled meetings 5-10 minutes early to ensure readiness and check connectivity.
Scheduled meeting time means dedicated meeting time.
If life throws you a curveball, inform the team as early as possible so adjustments can be made seamlessly.
Clear Weekly Reporting Keeps Us Aligned
To maintain our rhythm and shared direction, we’ll clearly report weekly through:
Weekly Memos: At the start, share your goals, plans, and anticipated hurdles. At the end, report your accomplishments, note any outstanding issues, and request needed support clearly.
Task Management: Every Jira ticket should reflect clear start/end notes, progress details, and transparent documentation to assist in team-wide alignment.
Important Scheduling Notice:
To best align our schedules, all recurring meetings will temporarily be paused starting in April. This brief pause allows each team member to evaluate and clearly communicate their availability and commitments for Q2. Once we've aligned, meetings will be reinstated only for the duration of the quarter.
When we meet next, please arrive ready to share your availability and commitments, so we can ensure a schedule that respects everyone’s lifestyle and productivity needs.
A note on calendar terms for clarity:
Work Session: Active, collaborative team sessions intended for task completion, roadmap progress, and collective growth.
Meeting: Your active participation is essential.
Invite: Optional executive meetings; your presence is welcomed but based on your availability.
Let’s continue to embrace the freedom and autonomy that WFA provides, without losing sight of the professional accountability and mutual respect that makes Chi’Va an extraordinary place to collaborate.
Looking forward to a productive, flexible, and respectful Q2!
Warm regards,
Danii Oliver
