How to Connect Your Custom Domain to Hashnode

I already had a .com domain for my DevOps profile. So, I thought, why not use it for my Hashnode blog too? Here are the steps I followed to link my custom domain, which I bought from Porkbun, to my Hashnode blog.

Step 1

Open any blog post, click on the profile icon on the top right, and choose "Blog dashboard" from the drop-down menu.

Step 2

On the left side, click on "Domain".

Step 3

Choose "Custom domain" on the domain page, enter your custom domain in the field, and click the "Add domain" button.

You will get a message saying the domain is added, and a new page will open with details.

Step 4

Go to your domain's DNS settings in Porkbun.

Step 5

Create a new record with:

  • Type: "CNAME"

  • Host: "blog"

  • Answer/Value: "hashnode.network"

Click the "Add" button.

Step 6

Go back to the "Domain" page in Hashnode. After a minute, the status will show "Valid".

Now, if you open any blog post, the domain will start with "blog.yourcustomdomain.com".
