It’s been a few weeks since we launched Picashot Studio, and we have been enjoying the lovely feedback from you, Picashot Fam. We will be answering some questions that you have asked over time regarding Picashot Studio in this blog post. These questions are non-exhaustive and will be updated from time to time.

What are the new features that have been added to Picashot?

We have added several new features, including unlimited uploads, custom domains, private albums, batch uploads, stats of your posts, and cross-posting to social media.

What does "unlimited uploads" mean?

With the new unlimited uploads feature, you can upload as many photos as you want to your Picashot portfolio without having to worry about storage limits. However, the free version still has a limit of 500 photos.

If you lapse from paid to free studio, do photos above the free cap get deleted?

If your Picashot Pro subscription runs out and you have more photos than the free limit, don’t worry your photos won’t be deleted. But here’s what will happen:

  • You won’t be able to upload new photos until you’re within the free plan’s limit.

  • Older photos might be hidden. Only your most recent ones (within the free limit) will stay visible. They will become visible and publicly available again when you renew.

To make sure you don’t lose access to any of your photos, we recommend renewing your pro plan.

Can I use my own website address for my Picashot portfolio?

Yes, you can now link your Picashot portfolio minisite to any domain name you own using the custom domains feature. This allows you to have a more professional and personalized web address for your work, such as xyz.com or vp.xyz.com.

How do I use the domain feature on Picashot Studio?

First, you need a domain name that identifies you, e.g xyz.com

To get a domain name, you can visit sites like Namecheap, Godaddy, Hostinger, e.t.c. Once you have your domain name, come back to Picashot Studio.

In the domains tab, you will see a field to add a domain name. if you want xyz.com to be the page that reflects your portfolio minisite, add xyz.com

If you already own a domain name like xyz.comperhaps for something else that isn't Picashot but you still want your domain connected, you can use something.xyz.com or vp.xyz.com. Anything you choose, you add it to the field.

Do I need to do anything else after adding my domain?

Yes, you will be required to do additional steps:

  • You need to configure your domain/subdomain to point to our servers, and you will need one thing that Picashot will provide: a CNAME record.

  • Copy the “name” and “value” of the CNAME record and go to where you bought the domain. Check the settings and look for where it says “DNS settings” or “DNS management.”

  • Click on “Add a new record” and select CNAME. In the name field, use the name you copied from Picashot studio, and in the value field, use the value you copied from Picashot.

  • Save your changes, then wait a while for Picashot to verify the setup. Once verified, you’re all set!

Can I upload multiple photos at once?

Yes, We have a batch uploads feature that allows you to upload multiple photos simultaneously. This makes it much quicker and easier to add collections or entire albums to your portfolio.

Can I only Access Picashot Studio on the web?

For now, yes. We are looking to bring all of the extra features on studio to the mobile app soon.

Is it possible to keep some of my albums private?

Yes, the new private albums feature allows you to keep specific albums private and control who can view them.

Can I see how my photos are performing?

Yes, Picashot Studio offers analytics that allow you to track views and potentially more for both individual posts and entire albums. This data can help you understand which content resonates most with your audience.

Will I eventually be able to change the portfolio theme?

Yes, this is one of the features we will be offering in a future upgrade. Stay tuned.

Can I easily share my Picashot photos on other social media platforms?

You can. The new cross-posting feature enables you to seamlessly publish your photos directly from Picashot to Twitter, Instagram, and Bluesky (coming soon).

I am unable to add my Instagram account to cross-post. What do I do?

We temporarily paused linking IG accounts directly due to some requirements we’re providing IG. Once our application request is approved, IG will continue to work.

Are these new features free to use?

These new features are part of Picashot's premium plan, which costs $3 per month.

How do I subscribe to Picashot Studio?

Log in to your account on Picashot Studio - Settings - Subscriptions - Upgrade Subscription

You can also check out the subscriptions page directly!

Will Picashot still be community focused?

We will always remain community focused. The new features are enhancements to your user experience, not tools to scrap community away.

Is Picashot planning to add more features in the future?

We are committed to continually enhancing our platform with new tools for showcasing virtual photography.
