Case Study: For Me App – A Habit-Tracking Solution for Lasting Change

Introduction

Building habits is hard but it’s essential for self- development. Self-development is the answer to a successful life because you’re always working on making yourself better than you were yesterday. About 70% people start with enthusiasm but struggle to stay consistent. The For Me App was created to change that. It helps users set, track, and maintain habits that improve their lives with a streak-based system that keeps them motivated.

This case study explores how For Me was designed to improve habit-building, the challenges we faced, and how it can revolutionize personal growth.

Many people struggle with forming new habits and staying consistent. Studies show that 80% of people abandon their new habits within the first month. The reasons vary—from a lack of motivation to loosing momentum to forgetting to track progress.

Our goal was to create a gamified self-development app that:

• Keeps users engaged by visually showing progress.

• Provides motivation through streaks and rewards.

• Simplifies habit tracking without overwhelming users.

• Suggest things that will help get them closer to their goals and guide them in their journey.

To understand user needs, we conducted research through:

• User interviews with individuals trying to build new habits.

• Competitor analysis of existing habit-tracking apps.

• Surveys to identify pain points in habit formation.

Key Findings:

  1. Users need visual motivation. Many wanted to “see” their progress in a rewarding way.
  1. Some people rarely track their progress and leave it to mental memory

  2. Streaks create accountability. People are more likely to continue if they don’t want to break a streak.

  3. Overcomplicated apps reduce consistency. Users wanted a simple and clean interface to focus on habits.

  4. Users understand that consistency is key to building better habits.

These insights shaped our decision to prioritize streak tracking, progress visualization, and a minimalist design.

For Me is designed to make habit tracking simple and engaging. Users can:

• Set daily, weekly, or custom habits.

• Track their progress with streaks.

• Receive smart reminders and habit insights.

• Earn rewards for consistency.

• Receive personalized coaching and recommendations to guide their journey.

Unlike traditional habit trackers, For Me focuses on visual motivation and psychological triggers to encourage consistency.

We followed a user-centered approach:

1. Wireframing & prototyping – Early sketches tested UI simplicity.

2. Iterative design – Based on user feedback, we improved the onboarding flow and streak tracking.

3. MVP development – The first version included essential features like streaks, reminders, and habit logs.

Challenges Faced:

• Balancing simplicity with features.

However, these apps often:

• Are too complex with overwhelming features.

• Lack a simple streak system that feels rewarding.

• Don’t focus on self-development but on completing tasks.

For Me stands out by focusing on self-development by using visual habit streaks and an intuitive, distraction-free experience.

User Testing & Feedback

Early beta testers provided valuable feedback:

What users loved:

The streak system was highly motivating.

The minimalist interface made tracking easy.

What needed improvement:

Users wanted custom reminders for specific habits.

Some found the streak reset too strict (we later added a grace period).

Based on this feedback, we refined the reminder system and adjusted streak rules.

Launch Strategy & Initial Reception

We launched For Me with a phased approach:

• Beta testing with 50+ users.

• Feedback collection to fine-tune UX.

• Soft launch in select spaces before scaling.

Initial Results:
