Microsoft is expanding its Copilot+ PC lineup with a suite of new AI-powered features, including Live Captions, Cocreator, Restyle Image, and Image Creator. These tools will soon be available across all Copilot+ PCs, regardless of processor type. Additionally, Microsoft is introducing advanced Voice Access features, initially launched on Snapdragon X chip devices, with plans to extend support to Intel and AMD-powered systems later in 2025.

The company remains committed to advancing its Copilot+ ecosystem by pairing cutting-edge hardware—featuring NPUs (AI chips)—with intuitive, AI-driven software. This latest update broadens the Copilot+ experience, now supported on PCs with AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm processors, unlocking fresh opportunities for users.

Enhanced Accessibility and Usability

The rollout includes Live Captions, which provides real-time English translations for audio and video content—ideal for virtual meetings, podcasts, or video playback. Previously exclusive to Snapdragon-based Copilot+ PCs, this feature is now expanding to AMD and Intel devices and will soon support simplified Chinese as well.

Voice Access is also getting a significant upgrade, enabling more natural and descriptive interactions with PCs. Currently available on Snapdragon systems, this enhanced functionality will reach AMD and Intel devices later this year. By leveraging NPU capabilities, it simplifies voice commands, eliminating the need for users to memorize complex syntax—a major step forward in accessibility.

Boosting Creativity with AI

Microsoft is also bringing its AI creativity tools to all Copilot+ PCs, extending features once limited to Snapdragon devices. Cocreator in Paint simplifies artistic creation by blending text prompts with freehand sketches, allowing users to craft detailed designs or personalized visuals effortlessly.

In the Photos app, Restyle Image lets users reimagine their pictures as artistic styles like oil paintings or sketches, while Image Creator generates original visuals from detailed text descriptions. These tools reflect Microsoft’s push to integrate advanced AI into Windows, building on earlier efforts like the Copilot-Power Automate integration in Windows 11.

Rollout Timeline and Access

These new Copilot+ features will arrive via Windows updates starting in March 2025, with a phased rollout over the following month through Microsoft’s controlled feature rollout (CFR) process. Eager users can jump the queue by navigating to Settings > Windows Update, enabling “Receive the latest updates as soon as they are available,” and checking for updates to install the March release.

Is Copilot+ Missing Its Breakthrough Moment?

Microsoft positions Copilot+ PCs as the future of computing, but the latest features may not yet deliver the game-changer users are waiting for. While creating images in Paint is entertaining, it’s unlikely to appeal to serious creatives who rely on professional-grade software.

These incremental updates contribute to a growing AI presence in Windows, yet they still feel more like novelties than a transformative shift. The lingering question is whether a standout “killer feature” will emerge to drive widespread AI adoption in operating systems—or if such a leap is even feasible.

For now, Microsoft’s strategy is clear: weave AI into every corner of its ecosystem. Beyond consumer-facing tools, the company is enhancing business applications—like Copilot in Microsoft Teams—with AI to streamline daily tasks and boost productivity. However, unlocking these advanced capabilities often requires a separate subscription.

While Copilot+ continues to evolve, its true potential may lie in making work faster and more personalized—provided Microsoft can deliver the defining feature that turns promise into revolution.
