SheCodes (Or Shall I Say, I Will)

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in my life. I officially started my coding bootcamp journey with SheCodes! I’ve been looking to go deeper into the world of tech for a while now, and taking this first step feels both exhilarating and empowering.

Why SheCodes? Because it’s more than just a bootcamp. It’s a space designed for women, where we’re encouraged to break barriers and step confidently into industries where we’re often underrepresented. Knowing that I’m part of a community that’s focused on lifting each other up and creating opportunities for women like me is inspiring beyond words.

Day one was all about HTML, and it felt like a mix of brushing up on old skills and getting my brain warmed up for what’s to come. While I’m already somewhat familiar with HTML, diving back in reminded me just how much I enjoy the creative and logical aspects of coding. The possibilities feel endless, and I’m ready to explore them all.

Of course, it’s not all rainbows and sunshine. There’s the reality of juggling life, work, and BootCamp. (Cue sleep regression, tough day at work, start of my fitness program, and being human.) But if today taught me anything, it’s that I’m capable of pushing through, even when I’m exhausted. And when the days get tough (because they inevitably will), I’ll remind myself why I started: to challenge myself, to grow, and to create a better future for myself and my family.

If you’ve ever thought about coding or stepping into tech, I’m here to tell you: go for it. You don’t have to know everything to get started. You just need to take that first step, as I did today.
