AWS Free Tier - Tutorial

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a leading cloud service provider. If you want to explore AWS, the Free Tier will be an excellent starting point. It lets you experiment with AWS services without any charges. This blog will guide you through setting up your AWS Free Tier account.

Step-by-Step Guide for AWS Free Tier

Step 1: Visit the AWS Free Tier page

Then, Click the ‘Create a Free Account’ Button, and you will be redirected to the AWS signup console.

Step 2: Creating An AWS Account

Enter your root email ID and AWS user name, then click the ‘Verify email address’ button.

A verification code will be sent to the respective email address. Enter the code, Click ‘Verify’, and then set a password.

Step 3: Choose the account type and complete the contact verification process.

There are two types of accounts available in the AWS free tier account. Based on your requirements you can choose either a Personal or business account.

For this blog, We will be choosing a personal account

Now, fill in the contact information like phone number, address, and country. Then click ‘Continue’.

Step 4: Identity Verification

To verify your identity, you can get the verification code through a text message or a voice call. Enter the code and click ‘Verify code’.

Step 5: Select the free plan

There are multiple support plans available. Select the free basic plan and complete the signup process

Step 6: Multi-factor authentication

After signing up you will be redirected to the console home. Now you have to enable Multi-factor authentication to make your AWS account more secure.

Navigate to the drop-down menu and choose ‘Security Credentials’.

Select ‘Multi-factor authentication’ and then ‘Activate MFA’.

Step 7: Choose a Type of MFA device

For this blog, we will choose ‘Virtual MFA device’, you can choose whatever option suits you and click ‘Continue’.

Download any authenticator app on your virtual device and complete the setup. Now, click ‘Scan a QR code ’ and scan the QR using the authenticator app. The authentication app will generate a 6-digit code, enter that code whenever you sign in using the root username or mail ID.

Step 8: Login your account

Once Multi-factor authentication is enabled, You will be directed to the login page, Now after completing the authentication process, you can now access the AWS console.

By following these step-by-step processes, you can successfully create your AWS free tier account and utilize its basic service and features for your needs.
