From Equations to Code: My Journey into Data Science and Automation

Hey there 👋🏽,

Welcome to codewithpelumi Blog—a space where code, operations, and data meet real-world impact. I’m Nofiu Moruf Pelumi, a mathematician-turned-data scientist, tech educator, and problem-solver from Nigeria 🇳🇬.

This is my first post, and I’d love to introduce myself and share what this blog is all about..

🧮 Why I Started With Mathematics

My journey began with pure love for numbers. I studied Education/Mathematics and graduated with First Class Honors (CGPA: 4.88) from the University of Nigeria. In my final year, I worked on a data-heavy research project analyzing WAEC and NECO results using statistical tools.

This project ignited my passion for applying math to solve real-world problems using data.

💻 From Academia to Automation

Right after graduation, I dived deep into Data Science—learning Python, R, SQL, and tools like Power BI. During my time at Risk Control Services, I developed:

  • ⚙️ Automated request systems using Microsoft Power Automate

  • 🔐 SSL expiry alert workflows in Python

  • 📊 Dashboards for internal operations

  • 🧠 Predictive models for data trends

Automation became my way of solving real operational problems with code.

🌍 Teaching & Tech for Impact

Alongside my 9–5, I founded Peldarg Academy, where I teach Python, R, SQL, and mentor future tech talents. I also serve in NYSC (Nigeria), where I've judged competitions, built educational tools, and led tech education efforts.

This blog reflects my mission to educate, automate, and elevate.
