The Airport Has Been My Office—And I Loved Every Second of It

For the past two years, the airport has been more than just a transit point—it’s been my office, my classroom, and the unlikely backdrop to a lifestyle I never expected to fall so deeply in love with. While pursuing my Master's degree, I didn’t study from the same desk or campus library. Instead, I logged in from boarding gates, cafés overlooking runways, and lounges tucked inside terminals across eight different countries.

Somewhere between the rush of check-ins and the stillness of cruising altitude, I found something unexpected: I thrive in motion. I was more focused, more creative, and somehow more alive when I knew there was a flight on the horizon. The rhythm of travel gave shape to my schedule, and the promise of adventure added meaning to my work.

This wasn’t a solo epiphany. It was my friends—fellow explorers and remote workers—who first showed me this path. Watching them balance ambition with wanderlust made me believe I could do it too. And I did.

But it wasn’t all postcard moments and productivity sprints. Coordinating across time zones, hunting for stable Wi-Fi, and carving out quiet corners to work from took planning and persistence. Some trips leaned more into play than work—Berlin, for instance, was so much fun I’m not sure a single chapter got done. (No regrets.)

Jet lag became a familiar companion. At one point, I was catching flights nearly every month. The cycle of packing, flying, and then recovering blurred the calendar. My body was drained, but my spirit? Absolutely soaring.

Through it all, I learned one of the most valuable lessons of my life: balance. That it’s possible to work hard and play hard. That deadlines and discovery aren’t mutually exclusive. That an “office” doesn’t need four walls—it can be a departure lounge, a foreign café, or a beachside Airbnb, as long as you’re doing what sets your soul on fire.

Looking back, I feel proud. I didn’t just survive two years of studying—I thrived while exploring the world. This lifestyle didn’t just help me earn a degree; it helped me define the kind of life I want to lead—one of movement, curiosity, and endless perspective shifts.

So here’s to the next boarding pass. To chasing both goals and sunsets. And to (hopefully) seeing you again soon, Berlin.
