WordPress tutorial for beginners: Learn to log in, create pages, add content, install plugins like WPForms, and follow basic SEO practices with ease


1. How to Log In to Your WordPress Admin Panel

“Now let us login into WordPress. We will go to our domain name and type /wp-admin. Enter your username and password and login into WordPress.”

Go to www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin → Enter your credentials → You're in the dashboard!


2. Exploring the WordPress Dashboard

“Now we are inside WordPress dashboard. Here you can see options like Posts, Media, Pages, Appearance, Plugins, etc.”

The dashboard is your control center. Key sections include:

  • Posts: for blog content

  • Pages: for static site content

  • Media: manage your images/videos

  • Appearance: control your site’s look

  • Plugins: extend functionality

  • Users, Tools, Settings: manage admin options


3. Creating New Pages in WordPress

“Now we will go to Pages and click on Add New. Type the name of the page like Home and then click Publish.”

📄 Steps to Create Pages:

  • Go to Pages > Add New

  • Type your page title (e.g., “Home”)

  • Click Publish

“Same way we can create other pages like About, Contact, Services etc.”

Repeat for each new page you want on your site.


4. Setting a Static Front Page (Homepage)

“Now we will go to Settings and then Reading. Here select Static Page and then choose your homepage from the dropdown.”

🏠 To make your homepage appear on the front:

  • Go to Settings > Reading

  • Select A static page

  • Choose your desired Homepage


5. Adding and Editing Content on Pages

“Now go to Pages again and click on Home or any page you want to edit. You can add blocks like text, image, heading, video, etc.”

🛠️ Using Gutenberg Block Editor:

  • Add Text, Images, Headings, Videos

  • Use blocks to format: bold, italic, links

  • Drag-and-drop content around easily

“You can also drag and move the blocks anywhere you want.”


6. Updating Logo and Favicon

“Now we will go to Appearance then Customize. Here click on Site Identity and you can upload your logo and favicon.”

🎨 To customize your site branding:

  • Go to Appearance > Customize

  • Click Site Identity

  • Upload your Logo and Site Icon (favicon)

  • Click Publish

“Logo will appear on your website and favicon will appear on the browser tab.”


7. Installing Plugins (WPForms as Example)

“Now we will install a plugin. Go to Plugins > Add New. Search for WPForms. Install and activate it.”

🔌 To install WPForms:

  • Go to Plugins > Add New

  • Search for WPForms

  • Click Install Now → then Activate

“After activation, go to WPForms > Add New and you can create a form using drag and drop builder.”

Great for adding contact forms, surveys, and more!

“Always use original content. Don’t copy from others. If you take some reference then rewrite it in your own words.”
