Is This the Era of the Anti-Hero?

The comic book world has always been a playground for morally grey characters, but it feels like lately, there's been a surge in stories focused on anti-heroes.
Take, for instance, Marvel's "Venom" series. While once a villain, Eddie Brock and his symbiotic suit have become fan favorites, tapping into that primal desire to rebel against established systems. Then there's DC's "Constantine," exploring the complexities of magic and morality through a cynical detective who walks a fine line between good and evil.
Why this sudden fascination with these flawed, morally ambiguous heroes?
Maybe it’s the reflection of our own times. We live in an era of social and political unrest, where traditional norms are challenged, and the lines between right and wrong are increasingly blurred. Anti-heroes, with their shades of grey, seem to resonate with a generation grappling with similar complexities.
Maybe it's just plain entertaining. Anti-heroes are unpredictable, driven by their own motivations, and often capable of shocking acts. They're not your stereotypical goody-two-shoes, which makes for more compelling storytelling.
Whatever the reason, one thing's for sure: the rise of the anti-hero is a trend worth watching. It shows a shift in our storytelling landscape, a willingness to embrace complexity and explore the darker corners of our own humanity.
