Finding Meaning in the Mundane: What's Buzzing in Poetry This Season

Hey poetry lovers!
It seems like every season brings a wave of fresh voices and innovative techniques to the world of poetry. Lately, I've been drawn to collections that find beauty in the everyday, those quiet moments most of us often overlook.
Take Ocean Vuong's "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous," for example. This beautiful and poignant collection weaves a tapestry of love, family, and identity through intimate snapshots of everyday life. Vuong's masterful use of sensory imagery—describing the world through sights, sounds, smells, and textures—makes his words jump off the page.
Similarly, Rust+ Moth:
"Behold! The Deep, Great Sea": explores the vastness of the ocean and the hidden lives within it. The collection uses vivid metaphors and similes to connect the microscopic to the cosmic, leaving readers with a sense of wonder and awe.
Beyond specific collections, I've noticed a growing trend towards incorporating found poetry into new works. This technique involves crafting poems from existing texts—news articles, social media posts, even overheard conversations—giving new meaning to discarded words. It's a fascinating way to explore the hidden poetry within our everyday language.
