School Timings Revised in Multiple States Due to Heatwave

As intense heatwave conditions grip various parts of India, several state governments have decided to adjust school timings to protect students from the extreme weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) recently issued an orange alert for several states, signaling the severity of the heat, and a yellow alert for others. In response to these alerts, district administrations in states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha have taken proactive steps to ensure students' safety by modifying school hours.
State-wise School Timing Changes
In these states, the following adjustments have been made:
Delhi: The government has directed schools to start early and finish by the afternoon to avoid the harsh afternoon sun.
Maharashtra: Schools in parts of the state have been asked to shift to early morning timings, allowing students to complete their classes before the hottest part of the day.
Madhya Pradesh: The state has implemented similar changes, with schools opening earlier and closing before noon to ensure students are not exposed to extreme heat.
Odisha: Schools have shifted their schedules to start early in the morning, keeping students safe from the mid-day heat.
Other States: Several other states, including Telangana, have already declared summer holidays or are in the process of announcing revised school timings to mitigate the impact of the ongoing heatwave.
Protecting Students from Heatwave
These measures have been put in place as part of the authorities' ongoing efforts to safeguard students’ health during this intense heat wave. In addition to the change in timings, schools have also been instructed to ensure students stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
As the heatwave persists, these proactive steps aim to minimize the health risks posed by the extreme temperatures and ensure the safety and well-being of schoolchildren across affected regions.
