My AWS Labs

For sometime now, I have been upskilling in AWS for the role of a Solutions Architect. Using many resources online including Youtube and Udemy’s Ultimate AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate 2025 by Stefane Maarek, I came to the realization that I will accelerate this mastery by doing and documenting hands-on labs that cover this role.
Therefore, with help from some AI tools, I have set out to do twenty(20) labs covering the design of resilient architectures( ex VPC networking), design of secure applications(ex. encrypting an EBS volume using KMS), and design of cost-optimized architectures(ex. apply S3 lifecycle policies to transition objects to Glacier) amongst others.
I look forward to following this plan faithfully in the coming weeks and I hope to derive the necessary knowledge that will help with my quest to be a dependable Solutions Architect.
The first article is on the designing of resilient systems. This is one of the core areas of AWS. Resilient systems are built to keep working and quickly recover from unexpected events or disruptions. They can handle challenges, adjust to changes, and recover from failures. These systems include features like redundancy, diversity, and adaptability, which help reduce the impact of disruptions.
A Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) houses different resources needed for the cloud to work effectively. The need to secure it cannot be overemphasized. My article therefore addresses this in detail.
