I Tried Dehydrated Indian Food for the First Time… and It Took Me Straight Back to My Mom’s Kitchen

I wasn’t expecting much.
Just a long day, a tired body, and one of those evenings where Maggi feels like effort. I found this packet tucked in my drawer — something a friend had casually gifted: dehydrated Indian food from a brand called Delmins. Sounded more like survival food than anything else.
But three minutes later… boom. The aroma hit me.
Like maa frying mustard seeds in the kitchen. Like haldi warming the whole house. Like Sundays when dal would simmer slowly and life felt easy.
I don’t know how to explain it, but it tasted like home. Not perfect or fancy. Just familiar. Comforting. Honest. The kind of meal where every spoonful feels like someone remembered what you miss.
Was it 100% like maa ke haath ka khana? No, of course not. But it didn’t try to be that. It just reminded me of it. And that? That’s enough on some days.
So yeah, consider this my accidental love letter to delmins food — and to the idea that even a packet meal can feel like a warm hug when it’s made with intention.
Anyone else tried Delmins or something similar? Curious what your experience was like.
