From Dorm Room to Dell: My Journey as an Intern and Campus Ambassador

“Opportunities don’t happen. You create them.”

This quote stuck with me ever since I began my college journey. Little did I know, it would perfectly sum up my path from being a curious student to becoming a Dell Technologies Intern and proudly representing the brand as a Dell Campus Ambassador.

I first came across the Dell internship opportunity through a college mail with the subject line “Collecting Data for Dell Technologies.“ With butterflies in my stomach, I submitted my application, and that day and email are etched in my memory. The day I got the link for the online assessment, I had never felt that level of anxiety in all my 21 years. Although I’d passed some test cases, it was only in the last 5 minutes of the OA that I managed to pass all the test cases for the second coding question.

Then came the interview call.

The interview process was divided into three parts, the technical round, the managerial round and the HR round. My technical round was focused on Data Structures, some concepts of Time Complexity, and my projects. I explained my thought process while solving the questions of DS and Time Complexity and then got into the depth of my projects. I made sure to highlight not just what I did, but why I did it—and how I learned from every step.

The managerial round was amazing—not only did we discuss work ethics, but we also bonded over Dell’s McLaren sponsorship, and I got to know my interviewer was into F1 too! We discussed Agile and Scrum practices, and how I’d prioritize work when quick decision-making was required.

The HR round had me as the first interviewee. Walking in, I was nervous, but the interviewer felt more like a senior trying to understand me than someone evaluating me. This round was primarily about seeing how I’d fit in with the company.

The moment I received the offer letter was surreal. I remember smiling endlessly, having made it to a dream company.

Becoming the Face of Dell on Campus

Upon getting my offer letter, I came across the opportunity to become a Dell Campus Ambassador. The idea of representing Dell on my campus, organizing events, and helping students connect with such a renowned brand thrilled me.

The selection process was competitive, but for such a prestigious company, it was expected. Today, as an ambassador, I serve as a bridge between students and Dell—hosting workshops, sharing resources, and motivating others to chase opportunities just like I did.
