Careless People, Indeed

Man, so I’m like 65% through this book: Careless People: A Story of Where I Used to Work by Sarah Wynn-Williams, and obviously, I kind of expected some (most?) things — I mean, who doesn’t know that Zuck is a pernicious robot-like psycho and Sheryl’s lean-in “philosophy” is pure bullshit, and Facebook/Meta is the equivalent of a malignant cancer, focused on growth no matter the cost to its host.
But this book reads like a mix of an adventure story (how the author/protagonist almost died a couple of times in exotic countries) with The Daily WTF and, I don’t know, Sociopathy Daily?
The title is a reference to The Great Gatsby:
“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy – they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness.”
And like clockwork, “Tom and Daisy” quickly obtained a gag order on the author Sarah Wynn-Williams, which means she can’t talk about her book. Obviously, due to the Streisand Effect, they inadvertently made the book a bestseller :D
Highly recommended.
