Hedera Adopts Chainlink Standard for Cross-Chain Interoperability To Accelerate Ecosystem Adoption

Hedera is excited to announce that the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability is live on mainnet. Developers can now leverage the Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to build highly secure apps that can transfer tokens, send messages, and initiate actions across the multi-chain economy. Chainlink CCIP supports 46+ other blockchains, with more blockchain ecosystems regularly integrated. Secure blockchain interoperability enables users and liquidity to flow into Hedera and expand our thriving DeFi and tokenized RWA ecosystems.
HBAR Foundation joined the Chainlink Scale program last year to provide Hedera developers with enhanced access to Chainlink’s high-quality oracle services. This paved the way for Chainlink Data Feeds and Chainlink Proof of Reserve (both part of Chainlink’s SmartData suite of services), along with CCIP to be live on Hedera, helping to accelerate DeFi and tokenized RWA adoption.
Secure and Seamless Cross-Chain Interoperability
CCIP is built with battle-tested security and is powered by Chainlink oracle networks, a proven standard with a track record of $75B+ DeFi TVL at its peak and enabling over $20 trillion in on-chain transaction value. Notably for developers, ERC-20 is the default specification for tokens migrated to/from Hedera.
Key unlocks for developers include:
- Access to a rapidly growing network and future-proof—CCIP has accelerating network effects each week as new integrations are added. Hedera now has access to 41+ other chains, with interoperability enabled by CCIP. This is enabled by CCIP’s architecture, which is designed to be built to be future-proof for developers, where future improvements can continue to be made, including the integration of new blockchain networks, the permissionless onboarding of additional tokens by developers while retaining full ownership of their token contracts, and the incorporation of new battle-tested approaches to security.
- Always-on infrastructure—CCIP is built with the same time-tested infrastructure as other services that underpin prominent protocols across DeFi with zero downtime, ensuring reliability in every cross-chain transaction.
- The Cross-chain Token (CCT) Standard—CCTs are cross-chain native tokens secured by CCIP. The Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard enables token developers to integrate new and existing tokens via CCIP in a self-serve manner within minutes with tools like Token Manager. CCTs support self-serve deployments with full control and ownership for developers—all backed by CCIP’s battle-tested security.
“Secure blockchain interoperability is critical for a thriving DeFi and tokenized RWA ecosystem.. That’s why we’re thrilled that Chainlink’s CCIP is now live on Hedera—bringing seamless, cross-chain connectivity to developers.. We can’t wait to see the novel cross-chain apps the Hedera community builds with this game-changing standard”—[Greg Scullard, Executive Director, Developer Advocacy, EMEA at Hashgraph]
“We’re excited to see the Chainlink standard for cross-chain interoperability live on Hedera mainnet. Along with Chainlink Data Feeds and Proof of Reserve on Hedera, CCIP enables developers to build secure cross-chain apps that drive adoption and expand Hedera’s DeFi and tokenized RWA ecosystems.”—[Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships] at Chainlink Labs.
