It started with a simple frustration.

Every night after winding down, I’d open up ProductHunt to see what cool new tools people had launched.

As a solo dev and a curious maker, it’s almost a ritual for me.

But night after night, something kept nagging at me: the blinding brightness.

No matter how much I loved discovering products, the bright white screen felt like a flashlight straight into my eyes. 😵‍💫

Not exactly the vibe you want before trying to get a good night’s sleep, right?…

At first, I shrugged it off.
Maybe I needed to just deal with it.
Maybe I needed those blue-light glasses everyone talks about.
Or maybe... there was a better way?

The Late-Night Idea 💡

One evening, while half-squinting at a particularly glowing ProductHunt page, I had a thought:

"If no one else is doing it, why not just build a Dark Mode myself?"

So that’s exactly what I did.

Over a few late-night coding sessions (with ironically bright screens), I hacked together a simple but clean Chrome Extension — one that would seamlessly flip ProductHunt into a dark, chill aesthetic.

• No unnecessary clutter.No heavy scripts slowing things down.

Just a lightweight, minimal, smooth dark mode — like putting a cozy hoodie over the internet.

Why I Built It (Beyond Just My Eyes)

Sure, part of it was selfish: I needed something to save my retinas. 😅

But another part was bigger:
ProductHunt is a place filled with creativity, innovation, and late-night dreamers.
I realized that if I craved a darker, softer browsing experience... maybe a lot of other night owls, makers, and fans of minimalism did too.

Sometimes the best products are the ones you quietly wish existed — until you realize you can build them yourself.
