MuscleWiki: The Ultimate Guide to Enhancing Your Fitness Experience

Almost a year ago, I came across an Instagram post that listed several useful yet underutilized web products, among which was MuscleWiki, a more interesting fitness product than most. After trying it out and using it for a while, I decided to share my experience with others, whether you are a seasoned athlete or a beginner like me.
In this article, I will share everything there is to know about the product, including its benefits and an easy guide to navigating it seamlessly.
What Is MucleWiki?
MuscleWiki is an easy-to-use fitness resource available on the web, and can also be downloaded as an application on mobile devices such as phones and tablets.
Unlike every other fitness web product out there, MuscleWiki doesn’t just hand out workout routines for you to follow, it allows you to create your routine based on your preference. So, whether you are looking to build your strength or grow your muscles, or work on one specific region of your body, it has you covered.
Key Features Of MuscleWiki
Customizable Workout Routines
MuscleWiki doesn’t have strict routines or patterns, it allows you to create your routine based on your preference and goal.
User-Friendly For All Levels
Whether you are new to working out or have been in the fitness business for some time, MuscleWiki has something for you. You can choose from a range of exercises at novice, beginner, intermediate or advanced levels.
Daily Reminders For Consistency
For you not to miss out on any day, MuscleWiki sends you daily reminders either via email or straight from the application (for mobile users).
Guide On Navigating MuscleWiki
MuscleWiki is very user-friendly and hence, easy to navigate. Here is everything you need to know:
- First and foremost, the homepage. After opening the webpage or application, that is the first page that comes up.
The homepage of MuscleWiki carries almost all of its features and is easily accessible thanks to the simplified layout. On the top right are switches that allow you to toggle between male or female, beginner or advanced, and joints or muscles, based on your desired outcome.
Just below it is a list of equipment from which you can choose. Even if you don’t have access to or make use of equipment, there are options such as bodyweight and cardio suited for such scenarios.
The human-looking figure in the middle with the outlines is the best part of the entire product. It allows you to select a particular muscle group you would like to work on and you will immediately be presented with a number of exercises specifically designed for the selected muscle group.
- Workouts is right below Home on the navigation bar to the left. This is a more important section where you are given freedom to create a workout routine to your taste. I will be giving a step-by-step guide on how to go about it:
- First, you select your gender.
- Next, you type in your age.
- After you’ve done that, the next step is to select what your fitness goal is.
- Afterwards, you’ll be required to select your fitness (or difficulty) level.
- In the next step, you’ll be required to select your preferred equipment. You are permitted to select more than one in this section.
- Finally, with the help of another human-looking figure, you’ll select the muscle group(s) you’d like to work on.
After clicking the “Generate” button, you’ve successfully created your personal workout routine, tailored to your preference.
- Routines, the feature below Workouts helps to skip the entire process of creating a routine for yourself. It presents you with a wide range of already created routines suited for any fitness level, equipment or location (home or gym).
- The Tools section helps you to make accurate calculations on the types and amount of food required for getting the best out of your workout routine. These tools include:
Calorie Calculator: This feature is used to calculate the amount calories you need to consume daily. This calculator can also provide simple guidelines if you want to gain or lose weight.
Here are the simple steps to follow to use the calorie calculator:
First, select your gender.
Then add in your age, height and weight.
Next, select your activity level (this is how much exercise you do and how frequently).
After that, chose your goal (this is how much weight you want to gain or lose).
Finally, click the “Calculate” button to know how much calories you need to consume to achieve your goal.
Macro Calculator: This feature is used to calculate the amount of each macronutrient (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) you need to consume daily, based on your required amount of calories (gotten from the Calorie Calculator) and how many meals you take per day.
Here are the simple steps to follow to use the macro calculator:
Firstly, select the unit you prefer. The unit is simply the ratio in which these macronutrients can be shared in a meal.
Then type in your required amount of calories gotten from the Calorie Calculator.
Next, type in how many meals you take per day.
Automatically, the required amount of all the macronutrients is displayed in weight and percentage.
The Articles section leads to a number of articles on fitness-related topics.
Directory leads to all the information on your past routines and calculations.
That’s about it for MuscleWiki and its amazing features. I must add that MuscleWiki has a few extra benefits that are only available on the paid version. But not to worry, all the interesting features listed above are available on the free version.
In conclusion, MuscleWiki is a user-friendly fitness resource that ensures that you get the best out of your fitness journey, no matter whether you’re just starting or already on your journey.
