Basically, there are 3 ways to create an account on storacha:

1. via Github (simplest, most-recommended for devs)

2. Email(requires credit card info even for starter pack($0), quite hassle when doing stripe payment)

3. JS/Go Client SDK (if you prefer coding over clicking)

Lets dive ahead:-

1) Github Login : w3 CLI

To login via Github is the most recommended approach since it grants 100MB free storage:

Install the CLI tool

• Ensure Node.js is installed first, then install the CLI tool globally in vscode powershell:

npm install -g @web3-storage/w3cli

Login

w3 login

You will be prompted with choices:

via Email

via Github

(NOTE: activation of py env in powershell is irrespective. kindly ignore🙂)

Arrow down and prefer ‘Github’ login then type ‘Y’, henceforth you will be forwarded to a browser window authenticating your github acc( browser associated with the same email address you used for your github account), and hurrayy! congratulations🔥✨ you are logged in to avail and access the Storacha storage service.

To verify, enter w3 space ls to get a list of your created spaces

and as for new users:

1) create your 1st Space in Storacha using w3 space create <space_name> and follow the steps ahead as prompted to setup your Space and Agent delegation( w3 key create) that controls the space capabilities— all in your powershell via a simplified, interactive Storacha CLI.🔥🌟
