Suspected Drone Explosion Near India-Pakistan Border Sparks Security Alert in Gujarat's Kutch

An early morning explosion near the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat's Khavda region on Thursday has triggered heightened security measures, after a suspected drone reportedly collided with a high-tension power line around 6 am.

According to a local official, who requested anonymity, a loud blast was heard in the area, prompting immediate action from security forces. Personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) rushed to the scene and recovered debris believed to be from a drone. The object was subsequently confiscated by the IAF for detailed forensic examination.

Kutch (West) Superintendent of Police, Vikas Sunda, confirmed the incident. “An explosion was reported in the area. We alerted BSF and IAF teams who responded quickly. They recovered an object that appeared to be a drone. It has been handed over to the Air Force for further investigation,” he said.

While the exact origin of the drone has not been established, officials have not ruled out the possibility of it crossing over from across the international border, given the location’s proximity to Pakistan.

The explosion follows closely on the heels of Operation Sindoor, a major offensive launched by Indian armed forces in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 personnel. On Wednesday, Indian forces reportedly struck nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

In light of these developments, security forces have intensified surveillance along the border, and further investigations are underway to determine whether the drone was linked to hostile activity.
